What is a person's DNA profile for?
When DNA profiling may be needed:
- Establishing family relationships by comparing a DNA profile with another person’s DNA sample;
- Determining paternity;
- An interesting and unique gift for a loved one, colleague, or boss;

Accuracy of DNA Profiling
Our laboratory uses the most advanced and accurate method — Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The procedure and analysis technique have been tested and proven over the years.
A DNA profile can be compared to an insurance policy. You purchase a policy hoping you’ll never need it, because no one wants unforeseen circumstances (injuries, illnesses, or accidents) to happen. But if they do, the policy becomes an invaluable document.
Similarly, having a DNA profile allows for reliable identification in case of an accident. It can also help establish biological relationships even without access to a biological sample.

How to get tested for a DNA profile
The sample collection process is completely painless and takes about 4–6 minutes. Typically, the DNA sample used in this genetic test is a buccal swab collected with a cotton swab (sampling of the inner cheek’s buccal epithelium). Commonly referred to as a “saliva test” (standard DNA sample).
If, for any reason, obtaining a standard sample is not possible, alternative types of samples — known as non-standard samples — can be used instead: blood, cigarette butts, hair, any biological stains or fluids, nails, cutlery, etc. See the detailed list of DNA sample types with descriptions.
Where to make a DNA profile
It is possible to take a DNA test for a DNA profile:
- In our genetic center. You can use the form «Pre-appointment» or come at any time suitable for you. Step-by-step instructions see here.
- On your own at home:
- Order by courier our branded set specially designed for self-sampling of DNA samples.
- Using regular (also called cotton) swabs purchased at the pharmacy. Our instructions.

How to pay for Genetic Profile and get results
For your convenience, we offer several options for both cash and non-cash payment:
- In our DNA centers, with either cash or credit/debit card.
- Online payment via our DNA center’s website.
- At bank branches.
- Via bank transfer (for legal entities).
When filling out the application for DNA testing, you can choose how you’d like to receive your test results:
- Personally at the DNA center.
- By the e-mail you marked in the application.
- Via courier service throughout Italy.
- If you have done a court-ordered DNA test, we can send the genetic report directly to the court.
- If you need a different method of delivery, you can specify it on the application form.
Each order is assigned a unique identification number. The laboratory guarantees 100% security and confidentiality of all data provided by you.
